FINAL PRESS RELEASE

June 2012

RADIO SYSTEMS AUSTRALIA GOES FOR GROWTH

Building on its success to date, Radio Systems Australia, owner of the well respected PetSafe® brand, has expanded its team and welcomed two new sales representatives onboard – Ryan Connor, aged 30 and Grant Leclere, aged 24.

In his new role Ryan will be responsible for managing Radio Systems Australia’s retail customer business across Victoria and Grant will focus on the NSW/ACT territory. Their remits will see both Ryan and Grant provide ongoing support for customers, drive promotional activity, attend trade and consumer events across their specific territories and identify new growth opportunities for the PetSafe brand.

These new appointments are very much in line with Radio Systems Australia’s growth projection since the company acquired Innotek Australia in January last year. Both Ryan and Grant will focus on marketing the core PetSafe products: Containment Systems, Training Systems, Bark Control, Pet Doors, Health & Wellness and Play & Challenge. Ryan and Grant will now be working with the full line of products. Commenting on the new appointments, Brad van der Veen, Vice President of International at PetSafe says: “Business continues to go from strength to strength and we are pleased to welcome both new recruits to the team as we move forward.”

He adds: “Ryan brings extensive retail experience to his new role and since joining the team his enthusiasm, solution-driven approach and strong work ethic have made him a great fit within the company. Similarly, Grant has launched himself into his new role with energy and dynamism. His fresh approach and enthusiasm has already made an impact and customers are set to benefit from his can-do mentality.” Ends.

NEW INFORMATION GUIDES FROM PETSAFE

SET TO GIVE RETAILERS A HELPING HAND

PetSafe® has produced a collection of useful information guides for retailers to distribute to customers on a range of key PetSafe product categories. Colourful lifestyle and product photography runs alongside insightful advice from PetSafe veterinary consultant, David Chamberlain. Six individual guides have been designed across the PetSafe key product categories: Pet Doors, Health & Wellness, Play & Challenge, Bark Control, Training Systems and Containment Systems.

• In the Pet Door leaflet owners are guided through the vast range of doors available, helping them to make the right decision on which door is right for their cat. Simple advice, that can often be overlooked, is also covered in the leaflet such as “Introducing your pet to a Pet Door”.

• In the Health & Wellness leaflet PetSafe gives advice on keeping pets healthy and runs through various feeding systems, including the popular pet water fountains.

• The Play & Challenge leaflet highlights the importance of actively encouraging pets to play with safe and stimulating toys. Interesting points such as “Why does my pet want to play” and “Why should I give him toys” are also covered.

Bark Control and Training Systems leaflets help to identify when to use such systems - and importantly – when they shouldn’t be used. The different systems available are identified, spelling out how they work.

• Consumers wanting to get to grips with Containment Systems and the options available will find the leaflet on this area useful. It explains the various options available and gives advice on when they should be used and why they might be needed.

Angela Critchley, International Marketing Manager for PetSafe says: “We frequently get questions from retailers and our customers about the merits of particular products and the different ranges available to them. The new leaflets make interesting reading and will allow consumers to make informed choices across our key product categories and retailers will be able to offer customers a wide choice of products through the leaflets.”

PetSafe will be exhibiting at stand 161-173. For more information about our core categories visit: www.petsafe.net

PETSAFE® GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

Since the acquisition of Innotek Australia by Radio Systems Corporation – owner of the PetSafe® brand - sales have gone from strength to strength and the company is now well placed for further growth under the Radio Systems Australia banner.

During the last twelve months customers have benefited from a wider range of products, including the well-respected bark control and training products previously marketed under the Innotek brand. With increased choice, six product categories are now available from the PetSafe brand: Containment Systems, Training Systems, Bark Control, Pet Doors (which incorporates a full range of cat flaps and dog doors), Health & Wellness (including the popular Drinkwell® brand of pet fountains), and Play & Challenge (which brings a vast range of Busy Buddy® treat dispensing toys under the Premier® brand). Radio Systems Australia has also made considerable investment in marketing material for key products across the product categories. A collection of six information guides has been produced for retailers to distribute to their customers; colourful lifestyle and product photography runs alongside insightful advice from PetSafe veterinary consultant, David Chamberlain.

• In the Pet Door leaflet owners are guided through the vast range of doors available, helping them to make the right decision on which door is right for their cat or dog. Simple advice, that can often be overlooked, is also covered in the leaflet such as “Introducing your pet to a Pet Door”.

• In the Health & Wellness leaflet PetSafe gives advice on keeping pets healthy and runs through various feeding systems, including the popular pet water fountains.

• Consumers wanting to get to grips with Containment Systems and the options available will find the leaflet on this area useful. It explains the various options available and gives advice on when they should be used and why they might be needed.

Since the acquisition Radio Systems Australia has seen a marked increase in demand in the Australia market for Drinkwell Pet Fountains and Busy Buddy Toys. Also growing in popularity are the Containment Systems especially those for ‘stubborn dogs’. On the financial front, the company is pleased to report growth with turnover up 22% in the last 12 months. Angela Critchley, International Marketing Manager for the global PetSafe brand comments: “PetSafe®, part of Radio Systems® Corporation is a highly ambitious company with a clearly defined goal - to become the most trusted brands in the pet ownership experience. This doesn’t just happen overnight and we are working hard to make sure that we deliver exceptional products and high levels of service to our customers.” She adds: “Australia is a very important market for the company, we are keen to get the product offering and after sales service right. We are making key investments to ensure that this happens and have developed a wide range of product and educational literature as part of our re-branding strategy. We are also looking at developing a social media strategy over the coming months – so exciting times and we have lots of plans ahead.”

PETSAFE¨ REVEALS ‘NEW LOOK’ PACKAGING

PetSafe® has invested in contemporary new packaging for its Staywell® range of pet doors. The move by the global pet product expert - seven years after it acquired Staywell – will consolidate the Staywell brand under the PetSafe umbrella and help customers when it comes to selecting one of its products.

The familiar Staywell name will still be retained in the product name but the Staywell brand is no longer being featured on the actual pet door. To keep the packaging familiar, and to help with recognition, PetSafe has adopted the same colour themes for different styles of products from the previous packs. The packs will now be much clearer for customers with the products’ key selling points highlighted.

PetSafe International Marketing Director, Angela Critchley says: “We felt that it was time to simplify branding across the pet door category and make it less confusing for customers. Staywell was acquired by PetSafe in 2005 and we retained the brand due to the equity in the Staywell name. Seven years on, we are confident that the product range has become synonymous with PetSafe and we’re sure that customers will appreciate this clear approach and enjoy the new look packaging.”

ANIMAL WELLBEING AT THE HEART OF NEW MATERIAL ON ELECTRONIC TRAINING

Following comprehensive research and consultation with its veterinary consultant, PetSafe® has produced a manual and film showing how to train dogs using an electronic remote training system.

The illustrated, step-by-step manual provides clear information and guidance, helping owners to overcome problems like chasing and teach basic obedience such as recall, heel and stay. The DVD captures how straightforward, harmless and effective the training method is.

Areas covered include: when to use and when not to use an electronic training collar system; how to introduce an electronic collar training system; determining the correct level for a dog; attention training; using the system for basic obedience; managing chase behaviour and weaning the dog off the electronic collar training system.

“Ensuring the wellbeing of animals, promoting their quality of life and helping integrate them into everyday social life is key to everything we set out to achieve” explains PetSafe International Marketing Director, Angela Critchley. “The new manual and DVD are very much in line with this.”

She adds: “Although electronic training products are relatively simple to operate it is important to know the correct way to use them and the DVD shows exactly what an owner should do in training their dog with such a product.”

The Electronic Collar Manufacturers Association (ECMA™) believes that about half a million electronic training products are in use or have been used by pet owners at some point. Used as part of a responsible training plan they can be a highly effective and harmless way to provide a channel of communication between a dog and its owner.
